I loved the idea of a advent calendar book! Unfortunately, I’m impatient and read it all in a couple of days!! It was a great thriller set on christmas, two things I love! It’s well written, not too stereotypical, which is usually my issue with a lot of thrillers. Also, that santa claus was HILARIOUS! And I also loved the commentary of the main character who was like « let’s try not to be the dumb main character in a thriller shall we ».

I am a big fan of dystopias, so I was really happy to receive this ARC.

At first, I wasn’t sure I was into the book. I found some things happened way too quickly (like the romance), and some others were way too long. Some things did seem to come out from nowhere and I was like did I miss a page or something?? I also found that the main character was acting a bit odd for his age. I think the dystopian aspect should have been more on the front and I wished it would’ve been a bit longer, so that we could have seen more of this aspect.

One thing I really loved about this book is the inclusion of the deaf character! That was really nice. I wish there would’ve been more diverse characters. I also did love a lot of the plot twists, even though they were going faster than I would have liked.

So, I did enjoyed reading that book, and I do recommand it if you’re a fan of dystopias. I think it’s for a younger audience, which could explain why some aspects were stereotypical. There’s no depth to the characters. I do think I will read the second book, as I did like the plot twists!

The synopsis of the book really got me intrigued, and I read the book in one sitting!

The first half of the book was slow, although necessary to understand Eve’s complicated life.

I did see some plot twists coming, but there was some surprises as well!!

Can I just say, I LOVED the wlw romance in this book, it got me kicking my feet! I wish the cast would have been more diverse though.

Also, I loved how mental health was represented in the novel!

I would’ve wished we would have learned more about the kidnapping

While at first I wasn’t sure about the writing, I’m convinced to say I will try another novel by Melanie Hooyenga!

I think I just read one of the best book ever. This book was everything I love in books!!! Inclusivity, wlw, social issues, mental health.

I just loved the characters (except you Josh. If I find you Josh….) and most of all, their beautiful and healthy relationships. I particularly LOVED how CP was included in the story.

Tbh, I don’t know if I want to be them or be with them!!!

Reading the book made me giggle, smile, kick my feet, cry, think and so much more.

I loved EVERYTHING in this book. There is not one thing I didn’t like. It was just perfect!

Anna has staged an attack on Willow on the morning of September 11 2001. But then, the towers are attacked and no one can find Willow. What did Anna do?

The characters are unlovable and the narrator is unreliable, which means we never know what is real or not. I did enjoy disliking them! I also liked the setting of the story, but the pace was a bit slow for me: I couldn’t wait to find out what had happened!! I also loved the social commentary of the book, I think that was the best part of it.

Also, let’s be real, a ton of issues could’ve been avoided if only Anna would have accepted she was in fact in love with Willow!

If you love mystery, unlovable characters, unreliable narrator and social commentary, this book is for you!

That was SUCH a great thriller!! It was so well written and the plot really was interesting to try to guess!! Compared with other thrillers, there was no exageration of personnal characteristics. I also LOVED to hate some characters, and loved the nuance in each and every characters. I had so much fun taking notes of everything and trying to guess who killed her sister! I took notes on some of the reactions I had while reading, so here they are:
QUEEEEEEEER!
Omg not the serial killer wanting her to feel safe as a woman HAHAHAH
Oooooh is Ernie the guy owning the deli Cyra went to?
So he’s targeting men that does the same as him…? Typical
Erm that jump in time was fucked up
LOL the emotions for the eggs but not for her dead sisterXD
HAHAHAHAH not her asking him not to kill her cause she got things to do HAHAHAHAH
She’s manipulating Eli…
Chapter on Pea was nicely written!

There’s only one mistake I did when I picked up this book: I picked it up at 9pm. I. Couldn’t. Stop. I knew I had to go to bed… but I couldn’t put that book down! And to say it’s been sitting on my shelf for at least two years….

It’s well written, so it’s super easy to read. Reading this story, your heart just breaks for Starr. I loved the characters, and loved to hate some of them. It’s such an important book to read!!

As always, Trope’s thriller kept me on the edge of my seat! I read the book in one setting. I loved hating Leo, he was just too easy to hate! And I loved loving Diana. Trope’s characters have complex feelings and the plot is making the reader doubt every character! Who is the villain? Who is hiding behind a fake name, a fake life? What secrets are coming slowly to the surface?
An incredible thriller, I recommend His Double Life and all of Nicole Trope others thrillers!!

As for the first book of the serie, I’m not a fan of the way it’s written. But I am fan of the twists and the characters. I knew what would happen, but deep down I kept hoping that somehow what happened in the first book didnt happen for real (and even though it still happened AGAIN, I will keep hope, leave me alone). I can’t wait to read the sequel!!!

WOW. That graphic novel was simply great. I loved all of it. I won’t say it was relatable cause I think the author heard that enough, but it helped me put words on feelings I have since forever. Thank you for your art, thank you for being you.

That graphic novel is about being human, simply. I recommend it to everyone. It has great illustrations, it’s funny, inspiring, it makes us think about life, it’s short and yet I would have took more.

I will definitely be reading everything she ever did and everything she ever will make.
