Definitely had the most excitement of all the bridgerton books… and the least smut.

Finally finished the Bridgerton series! This last one wasn't great, and pretty convoluted, even for a historical romance. As a fan of the show, I was a bit bummed that I didn't love the series - Julia Quinn just isn't my favorite author in this genre. But a couple of the books (Benedict's and Hyacinth's - honorable mentions to Eloise's and Francesca's) were pretty good. And while Shonda Rhimes does some real heavy lifting to turn the Bridgerton books into the intriguing & beautiful TV series it is, I feel like at least one book - Colin's - was actually a better book than TV season. (The book was more straightforward and Colin was way less annoying than in the show that season.) As a book-first nerd, I'm glad I finally caught up with the books, but I'm not sure I'd necessarily recommend them, unless you're a book purist and really like the show. But now I'm really looking forward to Benedict's story next season!

Shame it took the author so long to write a decent book in this series.

Honestly, my least favorite of this series by far. I just think it was kind of an afterthought book compared to the rest of the Bridgerton series, but considering the other 7 before this one were all SO well written, she’s bound to write a so-so book eventually. And despite not reaching the level of the other Bridgerton books, it still had way more plot and fun and good dialogue than most of the other smut out there in the world! So overall, worth it.
