Vandemere by Kimberley D. Tait
4.0
I listened to this one so quickly. I liked the world building and back story of Vandemere and his circle. His troubled past with his mother and father play and important role in his development. I loved the circus setting and all of the different interesting characters. I am a sucker for paranormal stories-this one satisfied my needs! Kyle Shive brings a light tone for the young Vandy. I can't wait to listen to book 2 in the series! Thank you NetGalley and Kimberley D. Tait for the advanced listener copy. All opinions are my own.

Huge KMod fan over here! I love her stories because they are dark, thrilling, and fast. This one, however, wasn't my favorite. I enjoyed the characters and the build up, and the twists kept me engaged. The ending just fell flat and left me disappointed. I will say that the narration on this audiobook was fantastic! Gail Shalan was able to narrate several voices seamlessly, including male characters. Overall, I would recommend this book and all other KMod books to other readers. Thank you NetGalley, Kiersten Modglin, and Dreamscape Media for this ALC. All opinions are my own.
The Lake of Lost Girls by Katherine Greene

Whoa! This was a great audio! I was instantly attracted by the cover, and I always love to listen to audiobooks narrated by Helen Laser.
Jess is a daddy's girl, all grown-up, and heading to college. She finds it hard to juggle her new freedom and the responsibility of being on her own. After joining a sorority, and making new friends, she finds herself partying more than studying. The she and 3 other girls go missing. The police botch the investigation, and now, 24 years later, the case is re-opened.
I liked the story a lot. It had components of Podcast, social media, and jumped back and forth to before and now for the characters to tell their experiences. The characters are well developed. I did feel like parts of the story were predictable, but I still found the whole thing enjoyable.--Definitely recommend!
