  • I absolutely adored Luke and Layla. They are two best friends/coworkers who have feelings for eachother. They are both scared the other will not reciprocate feelings as well as lose their jobs, due to a no-dating policy at the office.
  • The plot gave me beachy/summer vibes. The company takes a work trip to Ocean City, Maryland. Sunny skies and sandy toes for all! I always love books with summer vibes.
  • This book is the first book in the "๐–ถ๐–พ๐—…๐—…๐—Œ ๐–ฅ๐–บ๐—†๐—‚๐—…๐—’" series. This was my first book by Juliana and I hope to read her other books, as well as the rest in this series when they release!

2.5 rounded to 3***
i really wanted to love this book! i thought the characters were sweet โ€” gave New Girl vibes in an office setting. it just fell flat for me. layla had a whole arc surrounding her parents that i really wanted to see explored!! the mc names being luke and layla with the heavy star wars references was almost too much for me.
luke was one of those guys that just confused me as well. he apparently is built like a sexy big bird and their size difference was just way overplayed for me

Well written, however I just donโ€™t like friends to lovers romances where the two MCs are in love but donโ€™t communicate. The story is a workplace romance with Jim and Pam vibes.

Some similarities to the cheat sheet and there is no spice.

Overall it was okay.

Really enjoyed the relationship between the main characters, they had good communication and there were no unnecessary misunderstandings

Oh hello there, you sweet slow burn friends to lovers romance. This is mutual pining from Pam & Jim shit - yes PLEASE. Do I wish that it was full on open door? Yeah. But I'll settle for no 3rd act breakup, so overall a good compromise. And even though we don't see much on page action, what we do get is still pretty steamy all things considered! I loved watching these two Star Wars nerds fumble around each other and how it sets up the rest of the series. I'm already dying for Adam's book, but am happy that Calla is next up.

*Thank you to Juliana Smith and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.*

When I first started reading this, I really enjoyed it. I love an office romance and it seemed really fun! Lots of banter, interaction and cute main characters.

I think the dual POV ruined it a bit for me. It was too much miscommunication and then each character seemed different in each others eyes? Hard to explain but it didn't sync well. I did like the characters though, especially Luke who wasn't your typical male lead!! He had flaws, he was afraid and it was refreshing to read about a normal guy!

Writing was good, but I did feel a lot of it was cringy...

At 85% I finally got what I wanted but I was tempted to stop reading before then!!! Overall, it was good.
