So thankful that I got to read an arc of this. I love revisiting the world that Austen created through other people’s interpretations.

Saying I enjoyed this was an understatement. This book made my heart soar and I appreciated the expansion of both Mary and Charlotte’s voices in this book. Their chemistry was simultaneously electric and sweet. It was chaste yet incredibly sexy. This was the epitome of sapphic yearning with the happiest of endings.

I highly recommend this one!

What a read. Thank you to the publisher for giving me access to the arc.

This was my first Lalami and I think I may read her backlist. This felt weirdly prescient and I practically dreaded finishing the book. Not because it was bad but because it felt almost too prophetic in a way. I enjoyed Lalami’s writing and her ability to really craft a story. I enjoyed her character work too.

Definitely need everyone to read this. This one will have folks buzzing.

For me, the allure of monster romances is that they really push the boundaries and have the capacity to be so fucking weird and different. This is what I think must of us enjoy about them. I don’t think Ferguson does a good job of trying to push these boundaries, it still feels very “safe” and I sort of get it, with it being tradpublished and everything BUT…that doesn’t mean it has to be boring. I went from having a decent time with this to feeling like finishing this was a chore.

I think I really only stayed because the narrators are fantastic.

So thankful that I got to listen to an arc of this. This was divine timing. I know this is particularly for Black girls and everything that we are up against but I think it would be so beneficial for other girls as well, but this does center Black girls first and foremost.

I’m thankful that people are starting to write more books targeted towards the stressors that Black women deal with and how we can not only navigate and overcome them but how we can come back to ourselves before we lose ourselves.

Listening to this was so special. I will definitely be getting a copy when this comes out.

Easily one of the best non-fiction books I’ve read this year. Perry takes us on a journey to investigate the cultural significance of the color Blue in African American history and culture. Not only does she leave no stone unturned and touches on a variety of subjects like blues music and how Black folks have been referred to as being so Black that we are blue, she does it all with so much love and care. I couldn’t have asked for a better read!

God!!! This book felt like a warm hug. It was so cute and fun but also as a neurodivergent fat Black woman myself, I felt so seen. There was so much tenderness and care that went into writing this book. Denise does with this all of her stories but particularly this one. I enjoyed it so much and would recommend it a thousand times over!

I usually don’t rate books that aren’t arcs but this was absolutely fantastic. This is what romantic fantasy should be!

Tam Becket was absolutely dreadful. What an annoying MMC. He didn’t deserve shit.
