Any Trope But You by Victoria Lavine

I love a book about a romance author who is a little jaded and this delivered in so many ways. It was fully of all the things we love about romance books all while Margot is rolling her eyes at it! It was funny and witty and swoony and so full of love! I loved it so much. Both Margot and Forrest were on a non-romance mission! neither of them had the time, they had both been hurt! But of course the tension and the chemistry of being thrown together in the middle of nowhere Alaska does something to people!! Watching the fight it and fall in love was SO MUCH FUN!

I LOVE FORREST WAKEFIELD! I feel like it’s been  second since I’ve read a grumpy hero and Forrest was absolute PERFECTION. He was so grumpy but also so sweet and so loving and he cared SO much for his family and even for Margot before he even really realized what she was doing to his FEELINGS!! And Margot was amazing! I loved her happily never after file. I loved how much she loved her romance community even though she didn’t quite believe in romance herself. I LOVED her and her sister, and how they were finally able to grow and change together and apart.

Margot and Forrest were HOT! A good enemies to lovers with ALL the best tropes thrown their way, in the best way! I loved their banter and I loved watching Forrest be SO jealous of Ollie. And watching them fight so hard not to face their feelings even though they were getting stronger by the second!!! Was hard but also so worth it in the end!!

This is a perfect book. I loved every single thing about it!! Both Liam and Alana were complex and still figuring themselves out while still knowing what they want. They were the perfect match in so many ways. The tension and the banter and their chemistry was off the charts?! Alana is someone that protects herself, but is able to finally BE with Liam. And the way she lets her and encourages her and comforts her and doesn’t give anything part of himself up?? It was BEAUITUFL! I cannot WAIT to be back in this universe. I think Sophie’s created something so beautiful and tender and I just know that what’s coming next is going to be just as beautiful as this.

There is something about a second chance that I JUST LOVE! I loved that Liam suggested fake dating and Alana just agreed even though they hadn’t seen each other in over a decade?? And the fact they were able to SEAMLESSLY go back to where they left off?? But also be different, better versions of themselves?? And that they were still able to slot back into being so comfortable and themselves together and STILL be able to grow a little more?? They had been in love with each other forever, whether Alana was ready to admit it or not, and they were able to REALLY fall in love and it was so easy!!

Thank you so much to Love Notes Pr for the ARC I exchange for an honest review!

I do love a novella, and especially a holiday novella, and I’m pretty excited about all of these! All of these authors are fantastic!

This one was good?? It didn’t really feel like an Ali Hazelwood book? But I do love a second chance! And the way Marc wasn’t going to let Jaime go was exactly what she needed!

I love books written by Chelsea 😭 I also love books about sports 😭 and this is honestly the perfect SPICY holiday novella. There is nothing better!

I was tearing up as Margo was finishing her marathon! I said in my last book review about a sports romance but there is just SOMETHING about sports and how it brings people to together that just gets me!!

Finn and Margo were FUN! And sexy and HOT! And they were also so SOFT with each other. The way he was able to encourage her without pushing and being so supportive! And she was in AWE of his dedication to running and so supportive of him!! And that was all before they even got really serious!!

I know Chelsea said this is a standalone… but Holden?? Katarina?? Maybe?? Together or even not together 😂

I am such a sucker for sports related books, movies, TV shows, anything! Because there is something so special about something that brings so many people together, that makes people feel so much for the same thing, that is something that can be such a constant for some people. And in this book all of those things and more were so perfectly depicted. This book was so beautifully written. And I loved everything about it.

Ben and Annie were perfect. They were SO tender and SO soft with each other. I loved watching them really get to know each other as adults. Watching them fall in love was so much fun. And their slow burn was deliciously written, the tension, the longing, the apprehension on Annie’s part for so many reasons. I was desperate for Ben’s POV, but I really thought we were able to see so much of his person and thoughts through Annie. The closer they got the more emotional I got, I felt like I could FEEL Annie falling for him and still felt her struggling and it just made me SO emotional watching them really trying to figure it out!

The overarching storyline was heavy, and I really appreciated that it was written well. And it was really able to show how sports can be toxic and unfair for so many people involved, while also bringing so much joy to so many people. Annie and Ben are perfect examples of that.

Jessica Joyce wrote a blurb for this which is the reason I read it, and once again her recommendation did not fail me! And Kyla Garcia narrated the audio so I’m going to have to listen because I love her so much!!
Under Loch and Key by Lana Ferguson

Anything written by Lana is easy to love! And this was no different! I am not a monster romance girlie but again if Lana writes it I’ll read it. This was full of so much love and hurt and grief and so much mystical mystery!! It’s the perfect balance of so many things that made it so easy to read!

I loved Lachlan and Keyanna so much. Two people who immediately dislike each other, one who has been taught to not trust the other, one who’s keeping a BIG secret!! But somehow find a way to fall for each other anyway!!! I thought their chemistry was so good, and the tension and the banter! Key ALWAYS stood up for herself even when she was so unsure of all of her choices!! And let’s be honest…Lachlan wouldn’t have had it any other way!!

And I LOVED all of the family reconciliations! There was a lot of hurt and grief written into this one and it wasn’t easy to move through. But I thought tie was written so well, and watching Key be able to reconnect with her family after losing her dad, and after they lost him many years before, was so beautiful. It was the healing that they all needed!
